The agreement
Using firstcolonynotary.com or booking a visit means you accept these terms. First Colony Notary is operated by Realize America LLC in Suffolk, Virginia. "We" in these terms means that company.
What we do, and what we legally cannot
We provide mobile notarial services in Virginia: verifying identity, witnessing signatures, and completing notarial certificates, at your location. We are not a law firm and we are not attorneys. Virginia law forbids a notary who is not an attorney from giving legal advice, drafting or explaining documents, or helping you choose one. If a notarization would break those rules, we will decline it, and declining it is us doing the job right, not a failure to serve you.
Appointments
A visit is scheduled when we confirm it with you. Every person signing must be there in person at the visit with current government-issued photo ID, and must understand and be willing to sign. Documents need every page present and no blanks the signer has not addressed. If plans change, reschedule or cancel using the link in your confirmation email, or just reply to it.
Fees
Virginia sets the maximum fee for the notarial act itself, and that fee always appears as its own line on your quote and invoice. Travel and any other agreed service are separate lines, quoted in writing and agreed by you before anyone drives. No visit starts without a written quote you have said yes to.

Everything on this website, the blog included, is general information about the notary process. It is not legal advice, and reading it does not make us your advisor. If a page links to another website, that site is not ours and we are not responsible for it.
Our responsibility to you
We show up, we follow Virginia notary law, and we do careful work. To the extent Virginia law allows it, our total liability for any claim connected to a visit is limited to the amount you paid us for that visit. Nothing in these terms limits any liability the law does not allow to be limited.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, and any dispute belongs to the courts of Virginia.
Changes
If these terms change, the new version is posted here with a new effective date at the top.
